What do you boost a stellar veteran team who have claimed back-to-back titles, including a double triumph boasting 30 wins from thirty-two matches?

A Greater Manchester club boasts an amateur veterans team with nine former top-flight players in their current squad.

222 Top Division Scores, Three Hundred Twenty-Five Global Appearances

Wythenshawe Vets Over 35s are located in south Manchester and compete in the Cheshire Veterans Division Top Tier.

The roster this campaign includes nine former top-flight players, with a combined over 1,800 top-flight games.

The elite squad also boasts 222 Premier League scores and over 320 international appearances.

The squad include Papiss Cisse, who scored 37 scores in over 100 games for Newcastle United after joining them for nine million pounds from Bundesliga side Freiburg in January 2012.

Cisse made his first appearance for the team in their most recent home-field game versus reigning champions their rivals and scored every one of the six scores in a six-two win - including a half-hour first-half hat-trick.

Wythenshawe's roster for this season also features ex- pros such as England and Anfield forward Emile Heskey, Hull City and Burnley winger George Boyd, Toffees striker Oumar Niasse, Wigan Athletic defender Maynor Figueroa, City duo Stephen Ireland and Nedum Onuoha and Premier League title victors Joleon Lescott and Danny Drinkwater.

Collectively, the ex- Premier League footballers have claimed 15 major honors and moved for total transfer fees of approximately £123m.

Famous Figures and Global Stars

Ireland started playing for the side during pre-season this season through close mate and present Wythenshawe teammate Blake Norton, and the former Republic of Ireland midfielder then asked additional former professionals, who all play in a weekly small-sided match, to participate.

Former Senegalese forward Oumar Niasse, who netted 12 scores in 65 top-flight games for the Toffees and even now attends their matches at Goodison Park, also made his debut versus the opposition - who are located in Liverpool and wear an Blue warm-up gear as their strip.

"My mate Stephen Ireland said 'join and have a game, it's a laugh'," said Niasse.

"After that he informed me we were playing a side from Liverpool and the surprise I had when I saw them wearing Everton kits - I say this is wrong for me!

"If you still enjoy the game and you know you can still play, wherever you can play, what are you going to do?

"Those people who turn up and see are pleased and to give someone's day if they see us playing there and to pose us questions - it's really about the pleasure of us having somewhere we can play, with structure of course."

Such is the bench strength at the club, he had his first game at full-back.

"It's a little different but then, I enjoy sprinting and just go inside - I'm not staying back that much," he added.

"I warn my defender 'I'm not hanging back' and that I'm just going to keep attacking.

"The running is what I'm seeking. It's good fun."

'Surreal Experience

In addition to the forward's six scores on debut, Ireland has netted 8 in three games for Wythenshawe, while Boyd hit five on his first match and Joleon Lescott, a centre-half by position, scored a hat-trick in one match up front.

The team are leading of the Premier Tier with three wins from three and a GD of +19.

Paul Barrow, 38, who features on the wing for Collegiate OB, faced ex- Wigan full-back Figueroa on the weekend - and had to tell his nine-year-old boy who Emile Heskey was.

Figueroa has played at two World Cups for Honduras, in addition to playing in more than 200 Premier League matches.

"The news was spreading like wildfire they had all these former top-flight stars," said the player.

"I felt I was a little starstruck playing against him to be honest.

"Even Heskey got on and he's got 60-odd England appearances.

"We held our own for a solid twenty minutes but then we had a player sent off and it was hard.

"We literally have not stopped talking about it - I was calling my mum and sibling on the way home.

"They were all friendly, shaking our hands after the match - it was like playing a group of normal fellas.

"Now we can't wait for the second fixture."
